Shoe Shredder
This project started out as a live event to showcase a new recyclable shoe. The client’s design direction was based off of a much smaller plastic bottle shredder. They wanted a clean yet mechanical look that also had to shred shoes. I was able to work with a talented team to assemble the shredder from my build drawings and deliver a working event piece in the span of two weeks.
Cross sections showing the simple altering stacked design that was utilized for the cutting wheels and the side case assemblies.
Custom axels were required to drive the cutting wheels. I came up with a solution that would minimize the machining cost by using hex stock steel, and turning the ends round where we needed.
The Reveal
The shredder would be lifted out of the Platform as the podium lowered.
